Yamaha Waverunner Seat Replacement Method
Why are you paying thousands of dollars to have your Yamaha waverunner seat replacement when you can easily do it yourself? Especially now that you found the instructions on how to do it yourself from this step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Remove the cover.
Yamaha waverunner seat replacement is a fairly easy process if you know what you are looking for. The first thing you will want to do is remove the seat cover from the seat. There are a few screws keeping it fastened. Simply remove these screws and pull back on the cover to remove.
Some covers have snaps and others have Velcro. If it has Velcro, then all you need to do is pull the cover off and set it aside. Use a utility knife to cut away at any Velcro straps that are holding down your seat cover. Flip up your seat cover slightly so that you can see where these straps are located and cut them away with a utility knife. The Velcro will likely require some force to remove and may leave some sticky residue behind on your boat’s interior when removed completely. Use Goo Gone or similar cleaner to remove this residue and then wipe down everything clean with a damp cloth before moving on to installing new foam padding underneath your seat cover.
If it has snaps then use a small screwdriver or something like pry them open. Set the cover aside once again and now you are ready to remove the foam from your seat.
Step 2: Remove the mounting bracket.
Use a screwdriver to remove the mounting bracket that attaches the seat to the frame of your watercraft. This should be easy, as it is only held in by one screw on each side. Remove both screws and set them aside for reassembly later.
Step 3: Remove the backrest.
Remove the foam padding from under your seat cover.
Step 4: Remove the old seat.
Remove the seat by removing the four bolts that hold it in place. Remove the cover over the battery and disconnect it from its terminals. Reinstall the cover, taking care not to short out any of the battery’s terminals.
Step 5: Install new seat
Install a new seat by reversing the process used to remove your old one. Take care not to damage any wires or cables when working with your Yamaha Wave Runner’s electrical system.
1. Align your new seat with the cross bars on the boat. Make sure that it is centered over the mounting holes before tightening it down with the provided bolts and nuts.
2. Reattach your seat backrest to your new seat. The backrest is held in place by two metal tabs on each side. To install the backrest, first insert the tabs into the rear mounting holes on the seat, with one tab on each side of the seat. Then turn the backrest clockwise until it locks into place
3. Install your new cover on top of your new seat by lining up all its edges and pushing them into place until they snap securely into place.
In summary, Yamaha waverunner seats are made to withstand the rigors of the water, but they still wear out over time. You can replace a waverunner seat with a few tools and some patience!
